I love that more artists are remembering (or at least, more are being reported) that making music is not simply a competition to see who can sell the most records or attract the biggest audiences.

With Left Hand Red, we have decided that we're not actually interested in attracting label attention any more. We want to make music that we enjoy, and if others like it, even better, rather than making music that is simply *designed* to be liked by as many people as possible, irrespective of any 'art' behind it.

We're currently intent on self-publishing an album, although what form that will take, we're not sure. We may have a free download (the abundant), but also a paid for, high-quality CD version (the scarce) for those who want it, and to bring in a little money for future studio time.

Our singer, Dan, does a great job of connecting with fans, and also of *staying* connected, through social networks, email lists and often in person at gigs. The effect isn't spectacular, but it is gradual, visible and, hopefully, lasting.
